Dalmiro Antonio Saenz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1926.

An early starter, he published his first book at the age of thirty, after his ship journeys through Patagonia, where he lived for allmost fifteen years.

His first book "Setenta veces siete" (short stories) won the prestigiuos prize of Emecé Editorials and quickly became a bestseller, with a violent view on life, sex and questions about christian moral, that made a stamp of Saenz’s books to come (Critics agree on the religious themes that re-appear throughout his books, whether it’s thought characters or as in "Cristo de Pie" where religion takes an anti-established view with the individual dialogs of the main character speaking with God... )

Years after he adapted for the screen two little stories from "70 veces 7", allong with Leopoldo Torres Nilson, who directed the film version.

After this begining he won the Prize of the LIFE magazine, in Spanish, in 1963 with "No", short stories.

After that he dedicated himself to work as a farmer, and write on his free time.

This same year, he won the Argentores (Argentinian Society of Authors) Prize, with "Treinta, treinta" a short story, like a western, but set in the desolate Patagonia.

The right where sold to cinema several times, but the projects never got off.

The next year he published in Emece Editorial "El pecado necesario", a novel, which was adapted for the screen, and shot with the name "Nadie oyó gritar a Cecilio Fuentes"", directing by Fernando Siro winning the "Concha de Plata" in the San Sebastian International Festival of Cinema, Spain (1965).

He started to write theatre and won the Prize of "Casa de las Américas", Cuba, in 1966 with "Hip Hip Ufa" after being published by Editorial Emece, and so he wrote the script for the screen with the director Rodolfo Kuhn, creating the film "Ufa con el sexo", Today in Canada there are making another movie version of this play with the name "El sexto día"

After this he started to write comic books, with the nouvelle "Yo también fui un espermatozoide"Editorial Torres Agüero that soon became another best seller.

He then ventured into writing about womans world, in a surprising vision, with the ironic name "Carta Abierta a mi futura ex -mujer" published by Editorial Emecé in 1968. Saenz is an author that captures the essence of femenine sensibility, treating the characters with special tenderness, the specialist says.

The next play that he wrote was "Quién yo?"published in 1969, by Torres Agüero Editorial, this play was represented several times, by several companies. Teatro La Voltereta, in Buenos Aires is currently running a version.

Mr Saenz has worked as a screenwritter for one the most famous comics in years, the Argentinian Luis Sandrini, and for him he wrote the scrip for the film "Kumaching" directed by Daniel Tinayre.

The military dictatorship began in Argentina and he received several death threats by the Triple A a criminal organization, He was kidnapped and liberated after five days of quiestioning and confinement, the result: he was forced to exile. He stopped his career and became a constructing houses, as a way os living.

He returned to write when democracy is settled in 1983, winning the Prize of Faja de Honor de la S.A.D.E (Argentinian Society of Writers) with his historic novel "The Argentinazo"(publishe by Nueva Editorial Latinoamericana), which became a hit play, with his own script and collaboration from the director Francisco Javier, of Los Volatineros group, tha put up this version in the Teatro Nacional Cervantes, in 1985.

In the meantime he continues writing now for magazines, and newspaper.

A lot of these where gathered in a book called "Un vagabundo llamado Dalmiro", published by Editorial Torres Agüero in 1986.

He returns to write police stories with "Sobre sus párpados abiertos caminaba una mosca" a nouvelle, in 1986. And making a new play with his same character, he writes the play "Las boludas", later adapted for the big screen by Victor Dinenzon with reknown actors like Hector Alterio.

He later associated with Dr Alberto Cormillot, to make and important investigation about the Jesuscrist figure, The manuscripts of the dead sea, and all about the lost years of the emblematic character of Crist.

They travelled to Israel, Egipt, New York, and interviewed many professors in this area. The book was published two years later, with the name of "Cristo de pie"(Editorial Punto Sur 1988/ Re editing Editorial Planeta 1995 y 1998)

Mr. Saenz continious his particular, human, poetic and erotic view of the most important commanders of the Argentina history with the novels "La Patria equivocada" publisheed by Editorial Planeta in 1991, and re edited in 1997, "Malón Blanco" (1995) y "Mis olvidos" (1998).

Many of his work are in several compilations, like "Latin Blood" de Donald Yates (The best crimes and detective stories of south america/ Editorial Herder and Herder New York 1972); "Los mejores relatos patagonicos" de Maria Correas y cristian Aliaga, Editorial Ameghino Buenos Aires1988, entre otros)

Actually, he lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina and works as a writer, and in a radio show doing culture comentaries (Radio America) and as a free lance jornalist for many newspapers and magazines.
